The Masonic Band of St. Petersburg disbanded because of the Covid-19 impact on its rehearsal and performance hall. In dissolution, the band kindly and generously donated its funds to several community bands. The South Pasadena Community Band thanks the Board of the Masonic for the wonderful gift. It will be put to good use in supporting music in the local area.

Masonic Band Presentation

January 25, 2024

As most of you know, almost 4 years ago, COVID caused the Masonic Home to close access to their building. This meant that the Masonic Band could not use the auditorium for rehearsals and concerts in the Home. The Home’s staff decided to not invite us back to their facility. This was the end of the band.

We donated our percussion instruments, music stands, and stand racks to the public school next door.

That left us with a music library and bank accounts. Now everything has been resolved. The Masonic Band board decided to disperse the remaining funds to two local bands whose members played with the Masonic Band. South Pasadena Community Band is one.

In appreciation for the players who showed up faithfully on Friday evenings and the afternoons of the second Sunday of each month; and in honor of Seraphime Mike, who played in and conducted both bands, the board makes this donation to the South Pasadena Community Band.. Spend it well, and rock on, band!
